A Celebration of the First Amendment
The Broad Theater hosts a unique, FREE, one-night-only
event to celebrate one of the greatest gifts our nation's Founding Fathers gave
us: the First Amendment.
The Martin Sosin Foundation
invites you to celebrate at a gala show featuring original music, comedy,
dramatic readings, historical discussions, and the presentation of the First
Amendment Awards.
Musical performances will
include original songs by Larissa Auble, Brian Pugach, and Jim Yates.
Comedy will be performed by James Blackman, with more to come!
The Founding Fathers who fought for our independence recognized that to maintain
our essential freedoms required not only eternal vigilance, but also
Constitutional guarantees protecting those freedoms. Freedom of expression
was considered one of the most important values to protect.
We celebrate this Amendment - which has been threatened throughout our history and is under attack this very day,-by bringing it to a fresh attention for great public awareness of its fragility and importance. The First Amendment Awards, each recognizing one of the five guaranteed freedoms, honor these champions of free expression:
